I tried running Linux as my main gaming PC OS. It was short lived but I’m not giving up!
Here’s where I’m at:
Jan 25: Installed Bazzite late at night. Didn’t have enough time to install games.
Jan 26: Tinkered some more with Bazzite. Noticed that my computer monitors won’t turn on unless my TV is on (I have 3 screen plugged in). Also, why doesn’t 1password save my 2FA tokens when I login ?!?
Jan 27: The monitor thing is really bothering me. I might need to create an EID (is that right?). All this time I haven’t gamed. I’m a bit frustrated, so I decide to go back to Windows for main system OS and put Bazzite on a 2nd boot drive. I’m not giving up, but it’s almost midnight and I’m blogging about Linux lol.
What I like about Linux gaming:
- Snappy
- Steam Deck desktop mode was a crash course in learning enough about KDE
- Not bloated like my Windows 11 login (ugh it’s so nice)
What I’m not happy about
- 1Password not saving the 2FA token drives me mad. I installed from Bazaar and Flatpak. No luck either way. Same problem on Steam Deck
- Still got a long ways to understanding command line installation
- My PC monitors not booting unless my gaming TV is on (also connected to GPU) is weird
- Need more time to understand how to get my Lian LI Uni Fans RGB to change color and to control my fans. I’m a bit worried they’re not running when they need to be and I just bought a new GPU that I’d prefer not to melt
