Ok, I’m still around. I publish too infrequently and while online, I also hate being online. Anyways, here’s 3 cool things I played/used/listened to/watched last year.
Games
Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth
The saga of Kasuga Ichiban continues. Set in Hawaii and Japan, the game hits like few JRPGs. Playing in Japanse is the way to go.
Donkey Kong Bananza
Fire game for the Switch 2. Wish it was 25% shorter because the ending is so good that the last few levels really drag.
Ghost of Yotei
Great improvement over Ghost of Tsushima. Beautiful graphics. Cliche revenge story that plays so-so well.
Movies
Wake up Dead Man: A Knives out Mystery
So good. I can watch these movies forever. Modern Poirot with the right amount of comedy.
Superman
A superhero movie that’s hopeful. Enjoying the ride before DC pulls a Marvel and makes things complicated.
Anaconda
Last movie I saw this year. Lots of hard laugh moments. I was cackling. Needed this
Books
Dandelion Dynasty by Ken Liu
Completed the series this year. Epic and hard to put down. These are looooooong but worth it if you’re interested in a silkpunk fantasy!
The Bright Sword by Lev Grossman
King Arthur goodness. Tells a tale of what happened after Arthur’s fall against Mordred. I dig the takes on established knights. Goes by quick. I wish there was a sequel. Still unsettled on the ending.
Detective Beans by Li Chen
A fun all-ages graphic novel featuring a cat detective. Easy to read, good for laughs.

The MinnMax Show
Great group of hosts, fun discussions each week, Pew Pew Bang, and a wonderful Discord server (even if I don’t have time to interact). I’m watching The Two Tens while I write this and highly recommend you sign up for the Patreon if you’re curious!
NPC
Lots of hardware talk. I love hardware. I may not buy all these consoles, but I love hearing the hosts talk about all these new consoles hitting the market.
Into The Aether
A lowkey podcast talking about video games. I don’t listen to every segment because the episodes run long, but boy do I enjoy this! Download one of their console favorite games episodes and enjoy!
Tech Podcasts
Upgrade
Apple-focused. Jason and Myke are wonderful hosts and Upgrade is a must listen every week. The perfect weekly news show if you’re an Apple nerd. Special shoutout to Myke, who represents newish (those not around for the 80s & 90s of Apple). He brings an everyman approach I really appreciate as someone who came to the Mac in the 2000s.
Connected
Another Relay Apple focused podcasts. The trio of Myke, Stephen and Federico feels like you’re sitting down with friends needing out about the latest tech from Apple and adjacent industries.
Comfort Zone
A newer show. I love the concept and variety of topics. Sometimes the show is all over the place, but it’s a lot of fun. Check it out and step out of your comfort zone!
Apps
Castro Podcasts
The best podcast app for iOS. The queue-format clicks for me. Glad the new developer has resurrected this app from the brink and now we have sync across multiple devices!
Ladder
Moved away rom FitBod over to ladder. I dig the Apple Fitness-like approach to planned workouts, but this formats works better by framing in a way that I can actually see my progression.
Letterboxd
My favorite “Social Network”. Combined with my AMC A-list subscription, Letterboxd is the reason I watch more movies. Love it!
